Mother’s Day Campaign

BACKGROUND

Mother’s Day is widely celebrated in Bangladesh, but digital participation remains shallow. Most brands default to discount banners and templated greetings, while the emotional depth of the occasion rarely translates into meaningful digital expression. People feel the moment, but lack simple, personal ways to share it on their own terms.

OBJECTIVE

Position bKash as the most relevant payment partner for life’s emotional moments. Transform Mother’s Day from a passive greeting occasion into an active, user-generated celebration. Give people a frictionless tool to express love for their mothers publicly, and turn that personal expression into a shared cultural moment at scale.

Idea

Most Mother’s Day campaigns ask audiences to consume content. We asked them to create it. We built a free personalized photo frame portal that turned every user into a content creator and every mother into the hero of her child’s social feed. The mechanic was simple, emotional, and inherently shareable: upload a photo with your mother, generate a custom frame, share the celebration. Then we layered an aspirational reward on top: a 5-star dinner with celebrity Mehazabien Chowdhury, turning user-generated participation into user-driven storytelling.

EXECUTION

We designed for participation, not performance. The creation engine: A free, frictionless photo frame portal where users uploaded a photo with their mother and instantly generated a personalized Mother’s Day frame, no app download, no signup friction. Designed to be emotional, instant, and inherently social. The amplification layer: Users were invited to submit their photo with a story for a chance to win a 5-star dinner with their mother, hosted by celebrity Mehazabien Chowdhury. Qualification required a minimum BDT 500 spend at any merchant via bKash, turning everyday transactions into entry into something meaningful. The scale machinery: 88 influencer-led activations seeded participation. Facebook Pixel-based retargeting lifted daily submissions from under 40 to over 500. 50 heartfelt winners attended the dinner with their mothers, generating a second wave of organic UGC as attendees shared their experiences across social platforms. A 14-day window. Thousands of authors. One celebration.

RESULT

The campaign turned audiences into authors at scale: 14,000+ personalized photo frames created by users, each one a unique act of public celebration 5,600+ user-submitted stories about mothers, written by participants in their own words 3,000+ qualified submissions meeting the full participation criteria 23% conversion rate from engagement to action, exceptional for a high-intent emotional category 49.6M impressions and 28M video views carrying user-generated content into the cultural mainstream 50 winners attended the celebrity-hosted dinner, generating a second wave of organic UGC 50 PR placements worth BDT 24M in earned media value 6% lift in daily transaction volume during the campaign window vs. off-season baseline Thousands of frames travelled across Facebook, Instagram, and personal feeds, each one a child publicly honouring their mother. bKash didn’t run a Mother’s Day campaign. It gave Bangladesh a creative tool, and Bangladesh used it to celebrate.
