bKash
Budget Shopping with Chamak
BACKGROUND
In Bangladesh, Eid shopping isn’t a transaction, it’s a tradition shaped by budgets, bargaining, and bonding. Yet brand campaigns kept treating it like a sale. For millions outside Dhaka, Eid discovery remained scattered, urban-skewed, and disconnected from how they actually shop. The gap wasn’t reach. It was relevance.
OBJECTIVE
Make bKash part of how Bangladesh prepares for Eid, not just how it pays. Move beyond promotional content into genuine utility. Reach audiences outside Dhaka with stories that reflect their reality. Turn passive viewers into active planners, and content into a cultural companion for the country’s most emotional shopping season.
Idea
Don’t scale creators. Scale relevance.
While the category chased reach through dozens of influencers, bKash did the opposite. We bet everything on one creator, Rukaiya Jahan Chamak, and sent her where brands rarely go: the real markets of Khulna, Rajshahi, and Sylhet.
“Eid Lagche Mone, Budget Shopping Shobkhane” reframed Eid content from promotion to participation. Instead of telling people what to buy, we showed them how their neighbours shop. One trusted voice, three real cities, five honest stories. A campaign that didn’t interrupt Eid prep, it became part of it.
EXECUTION
We rejected the influencer-flood playbook. One creator. Three cities. Five stories. Each rooted in a real budget, a real market, a real moment.
Chamak travelled beyond Dhaka to document Eid shopping as it actually happens:
A full ৳5,000 Eid haul in Khulna
Affordable silk inside a 65-year-old shop in Rajshahi
A complete ৳1,000 Eid outfit in Sylhet
A second Rajshahi market deep-dive
A recap binding the journey into one cultural narrative
Drops were paced, not packed. Each piece had room to breathe, build anticipation, and earn organic shares before the next one landed. No paid amplification gimmicks. No celebrity stack. Just hyper-local storytelling that respected the audience’s intelligence and reflected their reality.
The result was a campaign that travelled the way Eid itself does, city by city, conversation by conversation, becoming part of the country’s pre-Eid rhythm.
RESULT
7.8M+ views on Facebook alone
295K+ engagements
8K+ saves, the strongest signal of intent
5K+ conversations in comments
35+ seconds average watch time, well above category benchmarks for branded content
The Khulna film alone generated 3.16M reach and 107K reactions, more than most multi-creator campaigns achieve combined.
But the real win was behavioural. People weren’t just watching; they were saving, sharing, and using the content to plan their own Eid shopping. Comments turned into peer recommendations. The campaign stopped being content and started being utility.
With one creator and five pieces, bKash didn’t just enter the Eid conversation. It shaped it. “Eid Lagche Mone” proved a principle the industry still resists: in the age of infinite influencers, the brand that picks the right one wins.
